Imperial March Played on Two Floppy Drives
Well, this is just cool. I’m sure it’s how Darth Vader originally intended it to be played too.

Honest, this isn’t a Star Wars blog, but when there’s so much good Star Wars stuff out there to share, it starts to look like one after a while. Please enjoy this…
Did you notice that double slide, just before the three minute mark? Nice, eh?

I’ve been following OK Go since the treadmill thing. I know lots of people thought they were a one off when they saw that vid, but I sensed there was something more. And Tim reminds me a bit of my friend Doug. Anyway, from time to time Dan and Tim from OK Go reenact scenes of movies from my childhood using the film audio track. They just mouth the words and sometimes dress up a bit and act. They’ve done The Karate Kid, a little Macho Man, and most recently they’ve done Star Wars! I really like the over acting and gesticulation that Tim puts into his Darth Vader.

PS: Don’t drink anything while you’re watching this. You might get it in your nose.

I’ve always (ok, not always, and there’s a post for another day) thought foley was fascinating. Here’s a five minute video of a foley guy who got his start on The Empire Strikes Back. He shows us all sorts of interesting ways to create and layer sound for film.
