Name of the Ultimate Day in October

So, I had a remarkable few thoughts while in the shower this morning. Remarkable in that I’m remarking on them in this blog post. See if you can follow the train of thought and please leave me a comment instructing me on where I have it right, or wrong.

  • If today is Halloween, was yesterday Halloween Eve?
  • When I was in elementary school, I’m pretty sure we spelled it “Hallowe’en”.
  • What is the “e’en” a contraction for? I think eve, but that hardly makes sense.
  • So, is the day before Hallowe’en “Hallow’s Eve Eve”?
  • When Martin Luther nailed the 95 Thesis on the Wittenberg Door, was he the first Trick-or-Treat-er?
  • Why do I have to wait another week and a half for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow(e’en)’s Part 2?

Thank you for your indulgence. Or in Martin Luther’s case, for getting rid of them. Except he didn’t, but eventually, because of what he was doing, I don’t have them. Indulgences that is.

You Are Your Harry Potter Counterpart

Are you like me? Do you identify actors as (not with, but as) the role they play in the Harry Potter films?

Jenn and I watch our fair share of British films; Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and a host of other great films that we describe as British. As a result, we often see the same actors in the films we watch. Then we play the game; I know that actor, they were… [insert Harry Potter character here.]

So, when we saw The King’s Speech on Friday (and let me recommend it, wholeheartedly,) my enjoyment of it was increased threefold when I was able to determine that Elizabeth was played by Belatrix, Churchill was played by Wormtail, and Dumbledore was King George V.

PS: Pippin, from those other movies often shows up when we sit down to watch a British film.

What’s Going On Here?

Let's be honest about what's going on here. I post to my blog, and I usually just share interesting links that I find elsewhere. I'm sorry that I don't post more regularly. I'm sorry that I haven't found the inspiration to post regularly with my own thoughts. But that's how it is. Thanks for stopping by though, I appreciate it.
