So, you probably know that I brew my own beer. My last batch was (is) a stout. Guinness is a stout. What goes with a stout better than nothing? Nothing. But something that goes with stout less than better than nothing is cider. You may have heard it called a Black and Tan. Well, when I was away last weekend, I popped by a homebrew supply shop and got myself a nice little one gallon carboy and stopper and came home with the plan to brew my own cider! It’s actually very simple, from what I’ve been able to deduce. All you need is some apple juice and some brewer’s yeast. I’m going to use champagne yeast to make it extra sparkly – cause that’s how I roll. I’m sure I’ll have a video up soon of the process. In the mean time, cider cocktails.
I’ve always (ok, not always, and there’s a post for another day) thought foley was fascinating. Here’s a five minute video of a foley guy who got his start on The Empire Strikes Back. He shows us all sorts of interesting ways to create and layer sound for film.

If you’re looking for a blog or two to follow (possibly because I wasn’t faithful in posting to this blog yesterday,) take a look at say100. From tech, to parenting to design and games, the folks at Say Media have found a leading blogger in a ten different categories. That blogger has assembled a list of the ten top bloggers in those categories. I haven’t dug too deep into the say100 list yet, but I bet I’ll find a couple to add to Google Reader.
1985 was a great year for time travel. And it seems that a lot of important time travel stuff happened that year. To help you get a better hold of what was going on in time travel (in and around 1985,) David McCandless has crafted this beautiful chart.
In the 1990′s a friend of mine had a coffee mug in his house (probably his parents’ house) that said “Time For Me” on it. We used to have a good time making fun of that. We knew all about the Christian concept of selflessness, even though we probably didn’t recognize that we had a tough time actually being selfless. And it was an easy target.
Here’s a new easy target. I just saw an ad for pudding (I think, I wasn’t really paying attention.) The tagline for it was “Me o’clock.” Easy to make fun of, and yet, whenever I look at my watch, it’s still almost always me o’clock.
